Fix: Not Receiving Mail App Notifications on iPhone

If you are not receiving notifications of new email on your iPhone, here is how to fix the problem.

Millions of people use iPhone’s mail app daily. However, there is a common problem that has become a nuisance for a lot of mail app users. Users report that they are not receiving mail notifications in iPhone, especially after upgrading to the latest version of iOS. In this article we mention some of the ways to fix this problem.

Fix Not Receiving Mail App Notifications on iPhone

1- One of the best ways to fix mail notifications not working in iPhone is to make sure your favorite mailbox options is not set to off. Favorite mailbox is a new option that was rolled out by Apple in the latest iOS versions. When this option is turned off, you won’t receive mail notifications. Just go to notifications > Mail> turn on notifications for VIP & Favorite Mailbox. Favorite mailbox is a type of email filter which allows you to receive notifications for your most preferred emails.

2- You also have to make sure that your notifications are set to on and every other related setting is as it should be. Open settings and go to the notifications section. You will see an “Allow Notifications” option. Set its toggle button to ON. Sounds and badges should also be ON. The “show previews” option could also be enabled to “default”. Basically, you should enable all notification options and alerts in order to make sure that you receive mail notifications in iPhone.

3- A lot of people stop receiving mail notifications in iPhone because their “Do Not Disturb” option in iPhone is set to on. The Do Not Disturb option silences all notifications. To turn off this option, go to Settings and go to “Do Not Disturb” option. You will see a toggle button here. Turn that button to off.

4- Another obvious but commonly ignored reason behind mail notifications not working in iPhone is that sometimes the push function of notifications is set to off. To fix this, open settings, go to Passwords and Accounts and click on Fetch New Data. Turn on the push functions from here.

5- Sometimes, enabling “low power mode” in iPhone also results in no email notifications in iPhone. The low power mode disables notifications to save battery and resources of your iPhone. You can turn off low power mode by going to Settings -> Battery.

6- Deleting your email account and setting it up again also fixes the problem. Just sign out and remove your account, restart your iPhone and then sign in again.
