Samsung introduces new Galaxy Buds+ at Unpacked event

Samsung's new premium wireless earbuds now have a bigger battery life.

Samsung’s Unpacked event yesterday has seen quite a few announcements from Samsung, but the highlight of all the talks were the release of Samsung’s new devices: the Galaxy Z Flip touch screen flip phone, the new line of S20 smartphones and the new Galaxy Buds+.

The Galaxy Buds+ is the followup to Samsung’ wireless earbuds called the Galaxy Buds, which were released last year.

Its launch at Samsung’s Unpacked event yesterday also comes as Apple, Samsung’s biggest rival, launched the AirPods Pro in October 2019. Now, the Galaxy Buds will also have a premium variant, just like the AirPods.

The new Galaxy Buds+ now have a more powerful battery capacity than the standard Galaxy Buds. It has a battery power of 85mAh, bigger than the regular Buds’ 58mAh. The charging case of the Galaxy Buds+ is also more powerful at 270mAh, compared to the Buds’ 252mAh charging case. This way, users can enjoy 60 minutes of playback with just 3 minutes of quick charging.

As with the Galaxy Buds, the Galaxy Buds+ also packs impeccable sound by AKG. However, unlike the 5.8pi Dynamic Driver of the Buds’ speaker, the Buds+ has a two-way speaker with tweeter for high notes and woofer for bass. The new pair of earphones also has three microphones: one inner mic and two outer beam-forming mics.

Another great upgrade for the Buds+ is that they are now compatible with iPhones. Samsung said the Buds+ app can now be installed on iOS devices. Samsung has also partnered with Spotify to make it easier for Buds+ users to hit play with a single press.

The new Buds+ will be available in blue, white and black.

Samsung has yet to reveal the pricing and the availability of the Samsung Galaxy Buds+.
