Mattel’s 40th Anniversary First Black Barbie Doll now available

Celebrate the 40th birthday of the very first black Barbie doll.

To celebrate Black History Month this February, Mattel has released a special edition tribute to its very first black Barbie doll to mark her 40th anniversary.

The 40th Anniversary First Black Barbie Doll is now available for purchase at major retail sites including on Amazon.com for $39.99.

She is part of the growing Barbie Signature collection and she bears a striking resemblance to the very first black Barbie doll that was released in 1980.

To celebrate her ruby anniversary, the special edition Barbie dons an elegant ruby red trumpet-styled gown with cut-away sleeves, inspired by her iconic outfit. Her hairstyle is styled in the same way as the original Barbie doll with a sophisticated up-do.

The 40th Anniversary First Black Barbie Doll also wears golden hoop earrings, a necklace and a matching clutch.

She even comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a special display case to show how special she is.

This Barbie was designed by Bill Greening, who is behind other iconic Barbie dolls like Golden Dream Barbie Doll in 2015 and the Homecoming Queen Barbie Doll in 2015.
