More circumstantial proof today that the 3G iPhone is coming soon was revealed with another major carrier slashing prices on existing models. O2 announced today that it has cut the price of the current 8Gb iPhone to £169.

The special price from O2 will be offered to anyone who agrees to sign up for an 18 month contract at £35 monthly. At that price users will get 600 minutes, 500 test messages and flat rate data access along with free access to Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots.

The 16GB iPhone isn’t included in the special. This may be just the time to get a bargain on a new iPhone assuming you don’t care about the faster speeds expected from the 3G version in June.
