There are many rumors circulating around about the coming 3G iPhone, which has yet to be officially announced by Apple. TrustedReviews has some information they found on La Repubblica claiming to have confirmed the 3G iPhone.

In addition to the claims that the 3G phone is coming (rally a no-brainer) the publication is also making a rather bold claim—the 3G iPhone will not be tied to a specific carrier. That would mean instead of being stuck with O2 you could get a phone on any UL based carrier.

Perhaps the price cuts that we are currently seeing on the current iPhone have something to do with not only trying to sell the old handsets before the new one hits market, but trying to get rid of them before the substantially increased competition comes from an open iPhone market. Of course we always have to take this sort of info with a grain of salt.
