Unless you live under a rock somewhere you have heard that O2 and Carphone Warehouse have been offering the 8GB iPhone for £100 off the normal price. The discount on the iPhone has been attributed to two things, a possible over order of the 8Gb handsets in Europe and the pending launch of the 3G version of the iPhone this summer.

It’s no surprise to find out that the discount proved to be successful. The Register reports that the 8Gb iPhone is flagged as out of stock at Carphone Warehouse and O2 shows the phone as no longer available.

The 16Gb iPhone is still available and to date has not been offered at a sale price. Perhaps with the 8Gb version now sold out or unavailable we will see the 16GB version offered at a discount to clear the stock on that version as well.
