We talked a bit about the Aldi 15.4-inch notebook a while back that promised lots of performance and a low price. The notebook has a 15.4-inch 1280 x 800 screen, a 320GB HDD, 3GB of DDR2, Express Card DVB-T TV tuner, 8X DVD writer, 4-in-1 card reader and more.

The heart of the notebook is an Intel T5550 processor. The machine also has a HDMI port and an eSATA port along with an integrated webcam and array mic. The biggest thing that was missing from the specifications for the machine was the price.

Aldi announced today that the price for the notebook is only £599.99. That makes the machine more expensive than say a new Eee 900, but the Aldi notebook offers more performance for sure. This should make for a nice lower cost notebook for school, home or work.
