Mobile service providers in America have been offering new flat rate plans for a few months now that offer customers one flat rate for all the data, text and voice calls they can make. Vodafone has now become the first UK service provider to offer unlimited web access.

New monthly rates from Vodafone will provide customers will all the web access they can stand for one fixed price. O2 has an unlimited data plan, but it is for iPhone users only. It seems the Vodafone plan will be offered for any Internet capable handset.

Internet access will be bundled with all new plans at no extra cost with plan prices starting at £25. Unlimited Internet access may be a bit of a stretch with the Vodafone plans though. Vodafone says a user will be subject to a fair usage policy of 500MB per month and will be contacted if they go over. Why not just call it 500Mb of Internet access each month? You can’t say unlimited and then say you can only have 500MB.
