With the dawn of the Internet age, the sun set on the encyclopedia as the place to go for information. The Encyclopedia Britannica says it wants to create an online community that will allow experts and readers to contribute their knowledge and collate data on the web.

It seems that what the Encyclopedia Britannica wants to do is remake itself into Wikipedia. Someone might need to tell them this has been done before and it’s FREE. The Encyclopedia Britannica plans to charge users to access its site.

Current charges for accessing the Encyclopedia Britannica online are £39.99 per year. I can hardly see users paying to use what the Wikipedia offers for free.
