LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment announced a new Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Star Wars Galaxies video game. The card game is called Champions of the Force and is set to launch later in the summer.

After the card game is launched in-game anniversary events will be held as well. The card game will only be offered online and will be available only to paid subscribers to Star Wars Galaxies. The card game will be combined with the adventures of the MMOG.

Players will be able to choose from dark or light sides of the force and build their own card decks. Players can play in solo mode or against other players in one-on-one matches. The first release cards will contain over 20 loot cards that are redeemable for in-game items. Players with accounts paid in full will get 5 cards each month free of charge.
