Eurogamer says that Sony is set to unveil the 80GB PS3 for Europe tonight at a press event at E3 in LA. The system should be on shelves this September. Like the 40GB PS3, the new 80GB version will still lack PS2 backwards compatibility.

The 80GB PS3 is expected to sell for the same GBP 299.99 that the current 40GB unit retails for. The price on the 80GB version is expected to be cut until stock runs out.

Feature wise the new 80GB version will add nothing new. You are really simply going to get twice the storage for the same money. Not a bad deal really.
