Nintendo announced today that it has learned that several blocks of Nintendo DS Lite consoles were imported into the UK that were not intended to be sold in the UK. As a result, Nintendo says that the consoles have been opened and the original Nintendo charger has been substituted for a third part charger.

Nintendo says that it fears these controller are made from inferior materials and could be hazardous to the consumer. It also fears that consumers who buy the consoles imported to the UK not originally intended for the UK may not realize the console isn’t using a Nintendo approved power adapter.

Nintendo also points out that if any damage to the console or harm to persons or property occurs while using third party chargers it is not responsible and the damage to a console will not be covered under warranty. An official Nintendo power adapter will be embossed with the Nintendo logo and the CE logo.
