Fans of flat screen HDTVs let out a collective gasp when Sony pulled the wraps off its XEL-1 OLED TV. The gasps were because the ultra thin TV was so cool and because despite the tiny 11-inch screen it still cost a lot of money.

Panasonic says that it expects to have 40-inch OLED TVs on the market by 2011. Panasonic is planning to invest a huge sum of money in a production facility that currently churns out LCD panels to change it to OLED production.

We can only wonder what the 40-inch OLED TVs will cost. Hopefully by 2011 OLED panels will be easier to build and therefore cost less to produce.
