Rumors of a new PSP console have been running wild for a long time. All kinds of designs are swirling around including a slider-style PSP, touchscreen PSP and a PSP with HDD.
PSP World published a run down of PSP 2 and PSP-4000 rumors.
PlaystationLifeStyle chimes into the discussion and proclaims that Sony is announcing something new at the E3 2009 in June in regards to the Sony PSP.
Apparently Sony is not announcing a new PSP-4000 or even the far fetched PSP 2, but something entirely unique.
What ever it is Sony needs to be careful not to get eaten alive by Apple with the new iPhone. Apple is moving into portable gaming really fast. Especially if the new Apple iPhone 2009 is even more suited to playing games. The whole 10 year hardware platform life-cycle thing is just not working anymore when other companies release new hardware each year.
