Nokia is trying to challenge Apple and its iTunes store with a new handset that allows device users to download unlimited music for a fixed monthly fee. Users will be allowed to keep the tracks indefinitely.

Nokia signed a deal with Carphone Warehouse for a Comes with Music handset that will give access to 2.1 million tracks from Universal, Sony BMG, and Warner for a year. The handset and service will go on sale in October.

Simon Ainslie, managing director of Nokia UK, said: "Comes With Music is the most compelling digital music offer ever introduced to the UK. You get a fantastic Nokia device with unlimited access for a year to a huge catalogue of music."
