Starting on October 1st a version of BBC's iPlayer specifically built for the Nokia N96 and other Nokia phones will be available. The iPlayer will come pre-loaded on some Nokia handsets and will be available to download on the BBC website.

The player allows UK audiences to download and stream BBC TV and Radio programs from the last 7 days. A Nokia spokesperson says that the service would run on a 3G network and that no additional charges would be required to use it.

The version of the iPlayer available for the iPhone and iPod touch only allows streaming of programs, the Nokia handsets will be the first phones to allow downloading of programs as well.
