SiliconSystems announced that it has improved speeds and storage capacities in its line of PATA and SATA 2.5-inch SSDs. The new drives have read/write speeds of up to 50 MBps and are shipping in capacities of up to 64GB.

The drives are aimed at embedded applications in the aeronautics industry, and for video streaming applications. The drives are drop-in replacements for existing HDD products in storage applications. The drives also feature SiSMART technology that prevents corruption from power anomalies.

"SiliconSystems' new SiliconDrive EP SATA and PATA drives feature higher speeds and increased capacities to exceed the demands of a broad range of embedded computing applications," said Robert Fan, vice president of marketing at SiliconSystems. "With these products, SiliconSystems is responding to rapidly increasing customer demand for higher performance and higher capacity versions of SiliconSystems' award-winning SiliconDrive products."
