Lexar announced today that it was adding Sony M2 format storage media to its line of products. Lexar will be offering M2 memory cards with up to 4GB of storage space. The cards are made for Sony Ericsson mobile phones and other devices using the M2 format.

The cards will also work with the Sony PSP portable game console. The 4GB capacity offers enough space for up to 1,000 songs, 12,000 photos, or 1,280 minutes of video. The memory card ships with an adapter that allows it to function in Memory Stick Pro Dup devices. Pricing and availability are unknown at this time.

Manisha Sharma, Lexar director of product marketing, noted: "With the introduction of M2, the Lexar mobile product line fulfills the growing demand for high-capacity memory solutions, allowing users to more fully realize the multimedia potential of their Sony Ericsson mobile devices. Lexar mobile memory cards, available in all popular formats, significantly increase the capacity and capabilities of cell phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices, and provide users with the assurance of reliability and quality for which Lexar is renowned."
