Packard bell has announced a new netbook computer for the UK. The computer is called the Packard Bell dot. It will run Windows XP Home and use an 8.9-inch display with a 1024 x 600 resolution. It uses the Intel Atom N270 processor and 1GB of RAM.

Storage is to a 160GB HDD and it uses a 6-cell battery with run time of 6-7 hours. Wi-Fi is featured and a multi card reader. A 3G module for mobile broadband is available as well.

Pricing for the dot is £320, not unreasonable but still at the top of the range for netbooks. Packard Bell will market the system as a lifestyle product.
