Apple Beats RIM In Smartphone Sales

The economy may be in recession across the US and many other countries, but that hasn’t stopped Apple from posting increased revenue and profits. Apple says that its Q4 revenue grew 27% and profits climbed 26%.

Apple says it has sold nearly 7 million iPhone 3G units this quarter. That amount means Apple beat Jobs' goal of selling 10 million of the iPhone 3G's by year-end, 13 million have already been sold.

That amount of sales has Apple in front of competitor RIM, the maker of BlackBerry devices. The interesting part about that to me is that Apple only has one model whereas RIM has many and still can’t keep up.
