The mighty little netbook is one of the sole reasons things are still doing OK for many PC makers. The low cost systems are surging as the economy weakens and consumers can't spend as much money on fully-fledged notebook computers.

You may be wondering why the Mini 12 sounds familiar, it's because the system was leaked before UK buyers could even get the Mini 9. The Mini 12 will use the Atom we are familiar with and get 1GB of RAM, and 60GB or 80GB HDD along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The machine measures 229 x 300 x 23mm and weighs 1.22kg with a 3-cell battery and 1.36kg for the 6-cell battery. The screen is 1280 x 800 resolution and it will cost around $550, which is more than some of Dell's cheap notebook systems with much more power. The OS will be Vista with Windows XP and Linux versions coming.
