TiVo And Netflix Stream Movies And TV To TiVo DVRs

TiVo and Netflix announced this week that Netflix on demand streaming movies and TV programs will be offered via TiVo DVRs. Supported DVRs will include TiVo Series 3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL devices. A test of the new feature was conducted in several thousand TiVo homes this week in preparation for mass rollout of the service.

Netflix will be offering is complete streaming library of 12,000 films and TV shows to TiVo users. The same service is offered via the Xbox 360, Roku Player and other devices. The service is expected to be available across the nation in December.

"For Netflix and TiVo subscribers, this collaboration offers a fabulously easy way to enhance the enjoyment of watching movies in the comfort of their living rooms," said Reed Hastings, co-founder and CEO of Netflix. "Subscribers to Netflix and TiVo are avid movie watchers and this combination gives them immediate access to all of the great content available through TiVo and the thousands of additional choices available to be streamed instantly from Netflix."
