The launch title for Project Natal may have just been announced! 'Gamer', based on the upcoming motion picture of the same name, could be the first video game to make use of Microsoft's new motion capture gaming system. 'Gamer', the movie, will be about a futuristic multiplayer game where players control other human beings in vicious deathmatch-style tournaments. Honestly, it sounds like the perfect title to break Natal in with.

We still don't have an actual product name or release date for Project Natal, but this news does give us some big hints. For one thing, the film is scheduled for a September 4, 2009 release. It stands to reason that the game will be released relatively close to the film, which means Natal will be released then as well.

Of course, it's possible that this is all just a misunderstanding. The source for this rumor is a tweet from the official Xbox magazine that says “Project Natal launch title?” and gives a link to the website for the Gamer movie. While that is perplexing, it's hardly proof. Hopefully more information will be forthcoming. A September release for Natal sounds too good to be true, but I want to believe so very badly.
