When it comes to camera phones, there are a few things they all tend to have in common. The first and most apparent to users is that image quality is not usually that great. The other is the lack of a zoom and the final common thread is that most camera phones don’t offer a flash.

Sony has announced a new camera phone sensor that sports 12MP of resolution. The sensor measure 7.5mm. To go along with the 12MP sensor Sony also announced 8.11 and 5.15 MP sensors.

What camera phones really need instead of more megapixels is better optics that provides images with less grain, optical zoom and a flash module.
