Onkyo was one of the heavy backers of HD DVD and didn’t offer Blu-ray players while the format wars were raging. With HD DVD, going the way of the dodo Onkyo has now introduced its first Blu-ray player called the DV-BD606.

As you expect with the Onkyo name plastered on it the player isn’t cheap at £399. Features include full 1080p resolution with 24fps mode via HDMI 1.3. The player is Profile 1.1 compatible, but lacks Internet functionality.

Support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master audio is offered and upscaling along with DivX content playback is offered.
