Phone wars are brewing between T-Mobile and O2 as word comes out that not only is T-Mobile launching the BlackBerry Curve 8900 earlier than O2, the device will be cheaper at T-Mobile as well. Starting today the 8900 is available at T-mobile.

As for the price, the handset is free if you sign up for one of the £35 per month contracts. O2 isn’t planning to launch the 8900 until January. O2 will give the handset for free with certain price tariffs, but hasn’t yet said what the pricing will be.

Carphone Warehouse will be releasing the 8900 next week. I guess how bad this is for other providers depends on how happy mobile users in the UK are with T-Mobile. It will also depend on how many users are interested in a handset without 3G.
