If you were expecting Microsoft to give up on its Zune music player in the face of a poor economy and layoffs at the firm, you were wrong. Microsoft says that it will be introducing new Zune devices this year.

There is little information on what exactly the next Zune devices will feature. It might be a safe guess to say a touchscreen Zune will launch and I wouldn't be surprised at all, if the long rumored Zune Phone tips up.

Many companies are jumping into the smartphone market and let's face it; Microsoft already has all it needs to build a Zune Phone. Only time will tell what Microsoft will do with its new Zune players.
