Windows 7 Will Get No Second Beta

Microsoft has said again that there will be no second beta version of Windows 7. The first beta for Windows 7 was released late last year. Microsoft's Steve Sinofsky said in a blog post that there would be only one beta version of the Windows 7 OS.

That should mean that the full version of the OS would hit sometime in 2009. The launch of the system is widely reported to be sometime in mid-2009. Microsoft has yet to announce an official launch date or even a target date for the new OS to come to market.

It undoubtedly wants to be sure it can hit its launch date with Windows 7 after all the missed launches with Vista. The next iteration of Windows 7 will be an official release candidate.
