The Competition Commission has moved to block a joint online TV venture between BBC, ITV, and Channel 4. The project was known as the Kangaroo Project.

According to the Competition Commission, the project would have had a detrimental impact on competition in the VOD market. The commission says that evidence it collected shows that viewers value UK made content above all other types of content.

ITV's Chief said he was surprised at the decision. The Commission says that none of the remedies proposed to keep the project alive went far enough to maintain competition in the marketplace.
