After a flaw was discovered by the manufacturer of Sky+ HD receivers Sky has found itself in the unenviable position of having to replace 90,000 boxes that are in use in homes. The flaw in the boxes has to do with internal cabling between components.

Sky stresses that there is no safety risk to consumers. All affected owners will be given three months free programming for Sky's HD pack when the box is replaced.

The boxes needing replacement are from the first produced by Pace with model numbers 9F3001, 9F3002, 9F3003, and 9F3004. The replacement program will take around three months to complete. Sky says that the boxes in use can be used normally until engineers drop by to replace it.
