Q4 2008 shipments were not good in all sorts of electronics categories from computers to TVs. The last quarter of the year is typically very strong for all sectors including the technology industry as consumers spend for the holiday season. However, Q4 2008 was different thanks to the slow economy.

Despite the doom and gloom we have heard from many companies when talking about Q4 2008, VIZIO has announced some good news. The company says that it became the second largest shipper of HDTVs in the US market during the quarter.

Sale through of VIZIO branded HDTVs grew a massive 52% for holiday 2008 over 2007. Overall, the company shipped a massive 1.2 million HDTVs in Q4 of 2008 and the brand made up 15% of all HDTVs shipped in the US over the quarter.
