Getac announced a new fully rugged GPS/PDA solution called the PS535F. The ruggedized GPS device is aimed at users working in harsh environments. The device has a built-in 3MP camera, altimeter, and E-compass.

The manufacturer says that using the features workers can capture data in the field and transmit it back to the office in real-time. The device has a 3.5-inch screen with a sunlight readable option. Connectivity options include 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The GPS device can transmit data from the field with an optional Bluetooth modem or mobile phone. Windows mobile 6.1 is the operating system for the device and it runs a 533MHz Samsung CPU and has 128MB of onboard MDDR memory and 2GB of flash storage onboard. Battery life is claimed to be 8 hours.
