Sony is not doing well in the poor global economy and recently announced its first loss in many years. Despite its economic woes, the company can at least be happy that its flagship PS3 game console has topped the charts.

According to TechRadar, the console is at the top of the Japanese sales charts. The surge in hardware sales coincides with the releases of the Japanese game Ryu Go Gotoku.

The PS3 sold 36,513 units for the last week of February, twice the sales of the previous week. The DSi and PSP were close behind with 35,827 and 25,588 sold respectively. The Xbox on the other hand moved 11,795 units for the same period.
