According to research sales of Android powered mobile phones could be higher than sales of the iPhone within three years. Analysts say that the open-source nature of Android will make it more popular in the long run than the iPhone.

Lots more Android handsets will need to be offered to make this prediction come true and according to the analysts many more Android devices are on their way to market as we speak.

Android is predicted to be the OS behind 2 out of 5 smartphone sold by 2013. That is a lot of phones for sure, but will any one of the devices be able to out sale the iPhone? I am betting it takes Android devices as a whole to beat the single Apple smartphone.
