Rival UK phone operators Vodafone and O2 have announced that they will be sharing networks. Smaller players in the UK mobile phone market may find that this deal puts them in a bad spot.

The pooling of network resources means that both operators will have seamless coverage across all of the UK. Vodafone and current partner Orange will be parting ways. How badly this will affect current Orange customers is unknown.

The formal announcement and finalization is expected to be announced next month. The move is sure to be closely monitored to be sure it doesn’t hurt competition in the mobile phone market.
