If you have had your eye on a shiny new iPhone, but didn’t want to spend the money to get one on existing tariff plans from O2 you may be in luck. Rumors are circulating that have O2 offering the iPhone 3G on a lower cost plan for free.

According to some reports, O2 will be offering free iPhones on a 24-month rate plan in the UK starting on the 3rd of April. The plan will give the phone for free to those willing to sign away their cellular freedom for 24 months.

That is a heck of a deal, American's have to pay for the phone and still get a 24-month contract. The plan will cost £34.25 for the 8GB iPhone and £44.05 per month for the 16Gb iPhone 3G.
