BT is reported to be all set to roll out its massively fast broadband service with speeds of up to 60Mbps by 2010 to residents of London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, and Belfast. The network rollout is being announced after BT finally settled with Ofcom on a way to regulate the fast network.

The network is part of BTs plan to offer Internet connections with speeds up to 100Mbps to 40% of homes and businesses by 2012. The upgrade requires the replacement of current copper cabling with fibre.

The new network will be trialed to about 500,000 homes and businesses with trials also being conducted in two rural areas including Calder Valley near Halifax and Taffs Well in South Wales.
