The Tag Heuer Meridiist luxury mobile phone gets closer to shipping. Tag Heuer launched a dramatic new site for the Meridiist featuring all the details about the stunning phone.
I like the looks of the Meridiist but the phone specific features just do not fit to the luxury wrapping and the price. I have an issue with making electronics a luxury item anyway. Electronics just age in front of your eyes. A mechanical watch in contrast will keep its appeal.

The Tag Heuer Meridiist will be hand assembled from 430 components and constructed from corrosion-resistant, watch making 316L steel. The displays are protected by unscratchable 60.5 carats sapphire crystal. Tag Heuer promises 28 day power reserve and 7 hours of talktime to be possible with the Meridiist.
Other technical features of the Meridiist include 2MP camera, QVGA screen, 2nd OLED screen, Bluetooth, Media player, and GSM/GPRS connectivity.

The Meridiist measures 112mm x 46mm x 15.5mm and weighs 155g.

You can choose different colored leather or rubber back plates for the Meridiist, which you can see on the Meridiist site. The price is around $5,000.
