Virgin Media says that it is looking to offer 150Mbps broadband and expects to have the service available as much as two years before BT gets its super fast fibre network installed and available. Virgin currently offers top speeds of 60Mbps.

Virgin spokesperson told BBC News that he would be surprised if the company didn’t start offering the faster speeds next year. Virgin says that it already reaches half of all homes in the UK and that the tech it uses has a theoretical limit of 200Mbps.

Few will complain if faster speeds are offered, but the question remains that once BT gets its faster network rolled out, what will Virgin do.
