Portable gaming fans in the US have to wait a few more days yet for the Nintendo DSi, but the new portable console has officially launched in the UK. The DSi is a bit thinner than the old DS and has an 8% larger screen.

The new console has dual cameras and SDHC slot for more storage. BBC News reports that there is a disappointing lack of change on the new console. The device can't play MP3 music, only AAC format. The camera's only have 0.3MP resolution and the charging cable has been changed.

No doubt, that last bit was to improve accessory sales for the new console since owners of the DS can't use old car charging cords or extra charge cables. Still the console is likely to prove a hit since the DS was hands down the most popular portable on the market.
