Two weeks ago rumors appeared that IBM was in talks to buy Sun Microsystems for $7 billion. The rumor turned into reality over the last few weeks, but now it looks like IBM withdrew the offer over the weekend according to the WSJ.

The reason for the deal withdrawal is apparently that the Sun board is split on the IBM offer.
More details on the WSJ and the NY Times.
