Hard drive upgrades are easy enough to do on a notebook assuming you can install the operating system without any problems. Today we are looking at a new Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB HDD. The drive spins at 7200 rpm but consumes nearly the same power as a 5400 rpm drive.

The Seagate trounced the 5400 rpm drive I recently tested in most benchmarks and has drop protection built-in. If you need a large hard drive for your notebook with high performance that doesn't kill battery life, this may be the product for you.

Review excerpt: "One of the first things that many notebook users look at upgrading is the hard drive. Most of the notebooks on the market today come with small hard drives and the cost of having the computer manufacturer add a large drive is often much more than what you can put a larger drive in for yourself. Seagate has a new 500GB 7200rpm notebook hard drive called the Momentus 7200.4 that we will be looking at today. Read on for all of the details on the Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500GB HDD."
