Buy This Now On Amazon

The Nikon D5000 DSLR unveiled last week is now available for preorder from Amazon and other camera retailers.

Amazon currently lists D5000 for $849.95 including the 18-55mm VR lens, while B&H is offering just the camera body for $729.95.

Gizmodo cites an anonymous tipster in reporting that it will be available at brick and mortar retailers on Friday, April 24th.

DPReview describes the Nikon D5000 as an “upper-entry-level DSLR” sitting somewhere between the D40 and D60 models, but a notch below the high-end D90.

Early D5000 reviews have been fairly positive, with Photography Blog claiming it is similar in quality to the D90 with simplified operational controls.
