The first smartphone on the market to run the Android operating system was the HTC built T-Mobile G1 smartphone. The follow-up to that device is the HTC Magic, which is reportedly set to launch on May 5th.

If that date proves to be accurate, it will be about three weeks after the device was expected to launch. The Magic sheds the G1 physical keyboard in favor of an iPhone-style virtual keyboard. The Magic was reportedly delayed due to a last minute hardware change.

The device will be a Vodafone exclusive handset and can be pre-ordered on the Vodafone website now. Orange is rumored to get its own Android handset this year with the Fiesta.
