Alltel Wireless has announced that it is now offering its customers the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8230 smartphone. The device is the only clamshell style Blackberry and it will be available in stores and online in May.

The internal LCD of the device has a screen resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and the external display allows users to see who is calling before they open the phone. Under the cover of the phone is a QWERTY SureType keyboard, navigation trackball and more.

The device supports GPS and has preloaded maps for navigation and location based apps and services. The device has a 2MP camera that can record video and a full HTML web browser. The phone has an expandable memory card slot supporting microSD cards up to 16GB.
