HP has launched what it calls an affordable line of business notebooks with the functionality the pro needs and a chic design that stands out form the plain, boxy business notebook masses. The new series is called the HP ProBook series and the systems come in a choice of glossy or merlot finishes with a unique keyboard design.

The systems can be had in 14-inch, 15.6-inch, and 17.3-inch sizes all with mercury free screens that are LED backlit. The series features integrated HP Mobile Broadband with Qualcomm Gobi technology. This allows a single modem to support multiple carriers for mobile broadband.

Systems are available that run Windows and SuSE Linux operating systems and HP QuickLook 2 software is included on the machines to give one touch access to items like email, task lists, and calendar. The series includes the 14-inch ProBook 4410s and 4415s, the 15.6-inch ProBook 4510s and 4515s, and the 17.3-inch ProBook 4710s. Pricing for the ProBook range starts at $529 and the machines are expected to be available in June.
