Streaming music service Spotify has announced that it now has a million users in the UK. The service launched without the need for an invitation in February 2009 and has grown quickly.

What is unknown is how many of the million users across the UK actually pay for the service. All Spotify's Paul Brown would say was that a decent proportion of the users paid.

Spotify offers three ways to listen including ad-funded where listeners have to hear three ads per hour, a plan for £10 with no ads, and a 99 pence daily solution.
