Google has launched its first TV ad intended to draw attention to its Chrome web browser. Google has traditionally avoided advertising in the past and has relied on word of mouth.

I guess word of mouth isn’t enough to get users to install Chrome and allow Google to better compete with IE and Firefox.

IE continues to dominate the browser landscape, with Firefox next, and Apple's Safari third leaving Chrome in use by a meager 1.4% of internet users. The commercial itself is very questionable and doesn't even let watchers know what it's for until the end of the spot.
