A report carried out by the Business Software Alliance has shown that 27% of all software on UK computers is pirated.

This report doesn't surprise me when you think of the high cost of some of the software out there like photoshop and Windows operating system and when we are all struggling for cash it's very tempting to use one of the many file sharing sites out there. But what we all have to realise is how much this actually is costing the industry. Piracy hit the industry by £1.49 billion in 2008, putting some software companies out of business. "Much more needs to be done by the industry and the government to warn businesses and consumers of the risks associated with under-licensed software, from a legal, financial and operational point of view," said Alyna Cope, spokesperson for the BSA UK country committee.
