If you were hoping that the cameras popping up around the country to catch speeders were a fad that would prove short lived, you will be disappointed. A single speed camera on the A316 Country Way has issued £973,000 in fines.

That amount guarantees that the cameras will be popping up more frequently around the busy motorways. The camera catches more than 100 speeders every day and has accounted for about 50,000 penalty points.

The camera was put up to police a temporary 30mph speed limit on the road that normally has a 50mph limit. The lower limits are in place while improvements are made on the stretch of roadway.
